Application Commitee Meeting

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

After several months of no news, it seems the developers are reigniting their plans to develop 874 dwellings on the harold wood hospital site.

The following Meeting will be considered by the councils Regulatory Services Committee in the Town Hall, main Road, Romford at 7.30pm on Thursday 12th November 2009.

The council are allowing a PATHETIC 2 people to speak for 2 minutes in objection to the application - and only if they have pre-registered and ALSO previously objected. I suspect by the time anyone reads this, those 2 places would have been taken, but i urge you to call Darren Rogers on 01708 432689 as soon as possible. I suggest the first question should be “how can a serious objection be considered from an entire community if you are only prepared to allow 2 people to voice their objection ???”

In addition, the letter dated the 5th, arrived on Friday 7th and they are asking for 2 days notice prior to the meeting the following Thursday!! It sounds to me like they dont want the hassle of people objecting.

Please try and attend the meeting. For reference, the details are available from www.havering.gov.uk/planning  reference is P0702.08

Revised Plans submitted!

Tuesday, February 3rd, 2009

SaveHaroldWood has just heard that Countryside submitted revised plans back in December! The full set of revised plans are available to view on the Havering website, but i have produced a comparison image. Click on the thumbnail image below to see the full size image.

I live right next to this site and have seen no notification of such changes. I urge you to make comments on the Havering Planning website about these new plans, as i fear that no comments may be seen as an acceptance of the entire development!

Search for Application Number P0702.08

The cynic in me believes that this is a ploy by Countryside but its frustrating that communication has not been distributed by the council to addresses nearby. If you have recieved notification through your door, let me know.

Ron Ower (HRA) is trying to do another distribution of leaflets in the area, so if you are able to help - even if its just a few - please let me know

Update from the Havering Residents Association

Saturday, December 6th, 2008

As seen in the December issue of “The Bulletin” …

“As we go to press, we are still waiting to hear from Havering CouncilsPlanning Department recommendations on the planning application by Countryside properties to build almost 900 properties on the former Harold Wood Hospital site.  The council have recieved a huge post bag from local residents who are very concerned. ”

“This must be the biggest planning application in the history of the area. We will keep you up to date on this”

Thanks to Ron Ower for campaigning on behalf of all the residents of Harold Wood.

It appears that the council planning department are not in any great rush to share their thoughts or opinions with the rest of us! If you do hear anything, please let me know. To keep up to date with major news on this, you can subscribe to email updates using the link on the right. (This link has been temporarily unavailable recently but the problem has now been resolved. Apologies if you have experienced any problems)

 Public meeting at St.Peters Church

It was fantastic to see so many peope turn up for the public meeting this evening.

A Big thank you goes out to St.Peters Church for providing the venue, Brian and Dennis for answering essential questions and of course Ron Ower for arranging the meeting. Also, thanks to so many people who are taking an active role in making sure that action is taken against the submitted plans.

As soon as the planning proposals were known, the meeting was swiftly organised and volunteers posted over 2000 flyers to Harold Wood residents. Unfortunatly, due to the time scales, some homes may not have received this notification. However, it isnt too late to take action!

To reiterate tonights message, it is essential that your opposals are sent to the planning office as soon as possible.  Full details below.

Commenting on applications (Advice from Haverings website):

You have three options;
1. Directly online (recommended)
The best way to comment on a planning application is by using the website. Simply use the Online Searches page to find the application you are interested in and, if the 21 day consultation period is still open, there will be a button at the top of the screen marked “submit a comment on this application”. Your comments will then be directly put into our system.
2. By email
You can email your views to us at planning@havering.gov.uk . Please quote the application number (in the format P0702.08) in the subject field and make it as clear to us as possible whether you are objecting, supporting or commenting on an application. You will be sent an acknowledgement of your email within a few minutes.

3. Write to us
You should post your comments to us as soon as possible. As with emailed comments (above) please always clearly quote the unique reference number (in the format P0702.08) and make it clear to us whether you are objecting, supporting or commenting on an application.Remember, comments must be recieved by 20th May. This is not the same as you having posted them to us. You should allow up to 5 days for a letter to arrive at our offices in Romford. You are already on the internet so why not save time and use our Online Searches facility which is linked directly to our system, meaning no postal delays and no stamps! SeeOption 1 for more information.

The following link may help you decide how you comment. This page describes the Governments “LDF” - Local Development Framework.

http://www.havering.gov.uk/index.aspx?articleid=2512

The policies and proposals in the LDF deal with a range of issues including:

  • The number of houses needed and where they should be located
  • How much land is needed for different employment uses, such as offices, business and warehouses
  • The relationship between how people travel and the places they use most frequently
  • Protecting areas of historic, archaeological, wildlife or scenic importance
  • The provision of recreational facilities
  • The Green Belt
  • The location of shops, services and community facilities
  • Balancing the above in the interests of sustainable development
