Update from the Havering Residents Association

As seen in the December issue of “The Bulletin” …

“As we go to press, we are still waiting to hear from Havering CouncilsPlanning Department recommendations on the planning application by Countryside properties to build almost 900 properties on the former Harold Wood Hospital site.  The council have recieved a huge post bag from local residents who are very concerned. ”

“This must be the biggest planning application in the history of the area. We will keep you up to date on this”

Thanks to Ron Ower for campaigning on behalf of all the residents of Harold Wood.

It appears that the council planning department are not in any great rush to share their thoughts or opinions with the rest of us! If you do hear anything, please let me know. To keep up to date with major news on this, you can subscribe to email updates using the link on the right. (This link has been temporarily unavailable recently but the problem has now been resolved. Apologies if you have experienced any problems)

You make a good point Mat.

I think there is also an issue around the council tax liability on empty building, though they may only be commercial properties. Perhaps someone else knows more about tax & properties?

We are actually looking at buying from Countryside at a development near Bishops Stortford. From reading between the lines when talking to them, it seems that they are struggling a bit to sell properties and have reduced some prices and would probably reduce some more if asked. Looks like they believe that anything new will struggle to sell at a decent profit.

According to the last issue of the LibDem newsletter delivered in Harold Wood last week, Countryside have ’suspended’ the application, basically they don’t want to build at the moment anyway, quelle surprise?

I give it a few months and the site will be full of travellers caravans.
