Proposal Highlights
A proposal of this size will inevitably have hundreds of pages of documents and plans, so it would not be practical to list everything here. So I have picked up a few notes from some of the areas which i find of particular concern….and going by the comments, so do most of you.
Plans have not changed since the initial proposal….with 5 storey blocks on Gubbins Lane and nine storey tower in the middle of the development. Two main access roads (Gubbins Lane and Lister Avenue) Bus route is still proposed through the development.
No other through traffic will be allowed (but who will enforce that??) Access road to ”The Drive” remains emergency access only.
Expected residential numbers:
1713 adults,
61 nursery age,
136 Primary school age,
83 Secondary school age.
A few Document Highlights:
Document: Education_Report.pdf:
With reference to secondary provision, ”Children of secondary age will travel further so local provision is not as important”
Pg 8, 3.7 Redden Court school will be increasing capacity.
(SHW Comment: Redden Court head, Mr.Townrow has stated that capacity IS NOT increasing with the new developments. )
Pg 8, 3.8 KindsWood school had 400 places in January 2007
(SHW comment: Why should we assume that all children should travel that far? Can anyone provide more up to date information?)
Document: Health impact Assesment final.pdf
- ”Good distribution of GP surgeries” But then goes on to say that Patient waiting list is 2337 (against national avg of 1540 and Preffered standard of 1800
- “A high number of people with disabilities”
- “Limited availability of secondary and primary places”
References to “One Railway” trains at Harold Wood - that there is plenty of spaces as trains only start 2 stations back. However, it fails to analyse the effect by the time the trains reach Romford (where there are yet more developments under construction) and beyond.
